Play Therapy
What is Play Therapy?
Play therapy is a specialized form of therapy that uses play as a vehicle for communication, processing, exploration and healing. Through play, children are able to process and make sense of their experiences, express and release difficult emotions, and develop coping strategies. Play therapy can be effective in addressing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and social challenges that children may face, such as anxiety, trauma, grief, aggression, social difficulties, and low self-esteem.
Why Play Therapy?
Play is the natural language of children. While an adult may prefer to talk through their struggles, a child prefers to play them out. This may involve art, pretend play, or creating stories in the sand. Play therapists are specially trained to support children in their healing through play. Every child is unique, so the play therapy approach will be tailored specifically to your child’s needs.
